Alston Fire Secretary Arrested for Theft

On July 1, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agents arrested Alston Volunteer Fire Department Secretary Kimberly Oglesby, after it was discovered that funds had been taken from the Alston Fire Department “Boot Fund.”
The case first began on June 19, when the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the disappearance of the Fire Department’s “Boot Fund” bank account, which contains both city of Alston funds and donations made to the Alston Fire Department by community members. Oglesby, 55, of Ailey, was the account holder for the Alston Fire Department.
Oglesby was arrested and charged with one count of felony theft by taking and was released on bond after being booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
