Mr. Trueman Lee Groves, age 94, of Lyons, died on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia following an extended illness.

Mr. Groves was born in Copeville in Collin County, TX, and grew up in Mesquite, TX. His father worked for the railroad, and he and his family lived in a railroad car for a few years. He entered the U.S. Army in 1949, and was stationed in Italy. After his military service, he returned to Mesquite and worked for Ford Motor Company for 12 years. Later, he built a church that he pastored for 13 years. He and his late wife owned a boutique near Dallas, TX, and he worked for a grocery sack manufacturing company as a machine engineer, including manufacturing sacks for Piggy Wiggly stores. He worked at Lowes in Terrell, TX, for a couple of years and lived in Galveston, TX, for many years before moving to Lyons in 2022. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lottie Mae Groves; parents, Oscar Raymond Groves and Tommie Elizabeth Chandler Groves; 1 brother, Thomas Groves; a sister, Suzie Groves Vail.

Mr. Groves is survived by his wife of 25 years, Angelina “Angel” Edenfield Groves of Lyons; 2 children, Ashley Schnitzer of Tomball, TX, and Michael Schnitzer (USN) of Kingsland; 1 nephew, Oscar Groves of Chicago, IL; 2 nieces, Betty Groves Cortelli and husband Michael of Orlando, FL, and Helen Groves of Iowa; son-inlaw, Jake Edenfield of Lyons; and 2 sisters-in-law, Connie Lynn Herbaugh and husband Kenneth and Rosa Lee Buff, all of Reidsville.

A celebration of life will be held later at his home.
