T-Rex Makes An Appearance

The Treutlen County Library had a large turnout last Thursday for our Dino Discovery program, which was presented by Out of the Box Education. Close to 80 children and adults packed the Fowler-Lawton Room to experience the entertaining and educational program, which featured several juvenile anatomical dinosaurs that were about 3 feet long.
The star attraction was the T-rex, which was 8 feet tall and 12 feet long and had a tremendous roar! Most kids thought he was scary, but were delighted in the excitement. Out of the Box Education was not just another science show, as we all know that when educating kids, sometimes we have to truly think out of the box!
Additionally, since June is National Dairy Month, Treutlen County Farm Bureau was on hand to treat everyone to ice cream sandwiches following the Dino Discovery program. We always enjoy having Ms. Kim, Ms. Rena, and Ms. Tina join us for our Summer Reading Program, and the Treutlen County Library is grateful to have them as one of our valuable community partners! Our final program of the summer is June 25, when Barry Stewart Mann presents Hot Diggity Doug and his dapper dog Digger as they unearth stories, poems, and songs from some treasured books all about digging and dinos. Following his performance, we will have our awards ceremony when we acknowledge participants with certificates and prizes as well as recognize our top readers for the summer of 2026.
All programs are free and open to the public, so beat the heat and come join us!
