Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) is continuing to expand the programs offered at the college, as a new Master of Science in Kinesiology program will officially hit the classrooms this fall.

This new program, which is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), aims to meet the increasing demands of the region and support opportunities for career progression, offering students advanced study for careers in exercise science, sports medicine, human performance, and rehabilitation, while allowing students to continue to work and complete other personal obligations.

The program will also continue to build upon the foundation established by the University’s Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology program, establishing a natural pathway for current University students to continue their advancement of a career in kinesiology and long-term professional growth.

University President Steve Echols commented on the addition. “We are grateful for the opportunity to continue expanding graduate education at BPCU that will equip students academically and professionally while preparing highly skilled leaders to make a meaningful impact in kinesiology-related fields throughout our region,” he remarked.

'The approval of the Master of Science in Kinesiology reflects Brewton- Parker Christian University's commitment to thoughtful academic growth,' University Provost Justin Russell added. 'As our undergraduate programs continue to thrive, we are strategically expanding graduate opportunities that prepare students for meaningful careers and leadership roles. The M.S. in Kinesiology strengthens our portfolio of graduate programs while providing advanced training in a field that continues to experience significant professional demand.'

The new 30 credithour Master of Science in Kinesiology program is offered through the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and features four specialized tracks: Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, Rehabilitation Science, and Biomechanics. Students may choose either a thesis pathway focused on research or an internship pathway that provides practical experience in professional or clinical settings. The program is designed to integrate scientific rigor with a biblically centered worldview, preparing students to become knowledgeable, ethical, and service-oriented professionals.

Graduates of the program will be prepared to pursue professional certifications through nationally recognized organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP).

Applications are now being accepted for the inaugural cohort beginning in Fall 2026. Prospective students must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and meet the program's admission requirements.
