The Treutlen County Public Library is hosting events every Thursday throughout June to help keep children and families entertained and engaged with the community this summer.

These events will kick off at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, when patrons of all ages can visit with several live animals during a Petting Zoo outside adjacent to the library. Also, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on June 4, kids and families can get more information about the annual Story Walk event, which is focused around this year’s book, Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson.

At 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, attendees of all ages can participate in an interactive Flamenco Dance Stories event, which blends storytelling, rhythm, flamenco props, and audience participation. Also, during this event, kids and families may sign up for the annual Story Walk event.

The Story Walk will end and all items will be due on Wednesday, June 17.

Kids can interact with fossils and even a “live” dinosaur during the Dino Discovery event at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. After the Dino Discovery, the Treutlen County Farm Bureau will treat everyone to ice cream as a part of the National Dairy Month celebration.

Storyteller Barry Mann will present “Hot Diggity Doug” at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. During this time, Doug and his dog Digger will unearth stories, poems, and songs about digging and dinosaurs through a fast-paced, audience- involved program.

An awards ceremony for those who participated in the library’s summer reading program will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.
