MoCo Library Unveils Packed June Schedule

The Montgomery County Public Library recently announced their monthly schedule for June, as the Library has packed the month with numerous activities for patrons of all ages.
On Wednesday, June 3, the Library will welcome community members of all ages for Coffee, Coloring, and Legos from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Later that day, at 4 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will inform attendees of the summer program about how deputies and other law enforcement officers work to solve crimes during a program entitled, “Crime Scene Investigations and the Science Behind It.”
Kids can make their own dinosaur bones artwork during the Crafty Tales event at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 4.
On Saturday, June 6, kids can enjoy a time of free play with bubbles and chalk from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Children, ages birth to 5, may hear a story and play with bubbles during the Books & Bubbles: Dinosaur Roar event at 3 p.m. while kids can blend reading with an archaeological craft during Crafty Tales: Dinosaur Dig at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 8.
Patrons can enjoy a sweet treat and show off their creativity during the Cookies and Canvas event at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9. To keep with the “Unearth a Story” theme of the Summer Reading Program, Cookies and Canvas attendees will be painting a portrait of a dinosaur.
On Wednesday, June 10, patrons of all ages can meet to play bingo at 11 a.m., while the Wild Wonders Animal Show will entertain program attendees with live animals at 5 p.m.
Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) enthusiasts of all ages can enjoy a time of learning during the Engineering Extravaganza, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11.
Kids can enjoy a time of movement and play during the Color Hop event at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.
Adults can take part in Junk Journaling at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 15.
Teens can show off their creativity and artistry during the Portrait Print Making event at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16.
On Wednesday, June 17, the Library will welcome community members of all ages for Coffee, Coloring, and Legos from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Later, Chad Crews will wow the audience with his excellent juggling skills at 5 p.m.
Kids can make a trophy to give the father figures in their lives during a Father’s Day Craft at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 18.
The library will be closed Saturday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth.
On Monday, June 22, library’s youngest patrons will enjoy a story about tiny tyrannosaurus rexes and play with bubbles at 3 p.m., while kids can complete a craft and hear the story of Pete the Cat: Cavecat Pete at 4 p.m.
Kids can make salt dough dinosaur fossils during a science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) activity at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23.
On Wednesday, June 24, the Library will welcome community members of all ages for Coffee, Coloring, and Legos from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Later, the Magic Man Bill Packard will mystify the crowd with his tricks at 5 p.m.
The Kids Craft Club will make a dinosaur bank at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.
Kids can come enjoy free play with large bubbles and chalk from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
On Monday, June 29, kids can paint their own dinosaurs at 4 p.m.
Patrons can show off their creativity and artistic skills during Cookies and Canvas at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30. Attendees will paint a patriotic garden gnome in honor of the Independence Day holiday that week.
All programs are open to the public and free to attend. Montgomery County Public Library Manager Kelly Stephens emphasized that the library will not be like the stereotypical silent areas because more programming for kids means that more noise will fill the library.
The library is located at 215 South Railroad Avenue in Mount Vernon, and is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. The library is closed on Friday and Sunday. For more information, call (912) 583-2780.
