Local Golfers Drive Support for United Way

The United Way of Toombs- Montgomery-Wheeler counties brought their annual charity golf tournament to the Swainsboro Country Club last week, turning a great day on the links into vital funds for local causes.
It is always a good day when you can trade the office for the fairway, but it means a little more when the scorecards translate directly to community support. The annual event once again delivered, drawing a competitive field while raising a substantial amount of money for the United Way's ongoing community initiatives.
Out on the course, the competition was sharp. In the Championship Flight, the team of Greg Johnson, Walter Warthen, Randy Floyd, and Maurice Brown found their rhythm early and held on to claim the firstplace title. Not far behind them, the foursome of Russ Bell, Matt Bell, Mark Jordan, and Jules Woodruff put together a strong round of their own to secure a second-place finish in the top flight.
The solid play continued down the leaderboard as the remaining flights battled it out. The 1st Flight crown was captured by the team of Brent Sammons, Brian Frost, Andrew McIntyre, and Keith Dawson. Meanwhile, Britt McDade, Luis Gonzalez, Chris Vinson, and Dustin Vernon teamed up to take home first place in the 2nd Flight, capping off a successful tournament from top to bottom.
At the end of the day, the real winner was the community, thanks to the local golfers who showed up to swing the clubs for a good cause.
