TCHS Takes 5th At Inaugural Cadet 4-Ball; Plays Well At Area Tournament

The Toombs County High School Bulldog golf teams took part in the First Annual Cadet 4-Ball Tournament hosted by Benedictine at Savannah Golf Club, and then headed to the Area Tournament. The Bulldogs had solid showings in each event, and both the boys and girls have earned a spot in the State Tournament.
Cadet 4-Ball The Toombs County High School men’s golf team competed Monday, April 13, in the inaugural Cadet 4-Ball Tournament hosted by Benedictine Military School at historic Savannah Golf Club.
The Bulldogs turned in a strong showing, finishing 5th overall in the competitive field.
Leading the way for Toombs County were Drew Woodruff and Vick Moore, who posted a 74. The team of Gavin Ward and Clark Brannen followed with a 77, while Rhys Ward and Noah Anken rounded out the scoring with a 78.
Area Tournament
The Toombs County High School golf teams competed in the Class A-D1 Area 2 Tournament on Monday, April 27, with both the boys and girls teams turning in strong performances to earn spots in the upcoming state tournament. Boys On the boys’ side, the Bulldogs continued their consistent success at the area level, finishing runner- up with a team score of 328. The second-place finish marks the fourth consecutive year Toombs County has finished as area runner-up.
Leading the way was senior Vick Moore, who fired a 77, good for 5th overall in the tournament. Close behind was Drew Woodruff with a 78, earning 7th place individually. Noah Anken added an 85, wh i l e Gav i n Ward rounded out the scoring with an 88. Girls The Lady Dawgs also delivered a strong showing, finishing in a tie for 3rd place with a team score of 194, setting up a playoff with Dodge County to determine the final qualifying spot for the state tournament.
In the playoff, Toombs County rose to the occasion, defeating the Dodge County Indians to secure their spot in the state tournament.
Leading the girls were Sarah Ellis Walker, who posted a 96 to finish 5th overall, and Anzley Bryant, who followed with a 98, placing 6th in the tournament.
With the results, both teams have officially qualified for the GHSA State Tournament, which will be held May 18–19 at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course in Elberton.
