MCHS Soccer Over Lanier

The Montgomery County High School Eagles soccer program took care of business at home last Tuesday, delivering a clean sweep against the visiting Lanier County Bulldogs to build crucial momentum heading into the postseason.

Girls

In the opening matchup, the Lady Eagles faced a resilient Lanier County squad but managed to dig deep and secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Lady Bulldogs. The win showcased their ability to grind out a close game when the pressure is on. With the regular season wrapped up, the Lady Eagles are now shifting their focus entirely to the playoffs, where they are scheduled to take the field next on April 21.

Boys

The boys team followed up with a commanding performance of their own, shutting out the Bulldogs 3-0. Montgomery County established control early, taking a 2-0 lead into the halftime break and refusing to let Lanier County find any offensive rhythm. In the second half, the Eagles tacked on an insurance goal to put the game completely out of reach. It was a balanced attacking effort for Montgomery County, with Abe Garcia, Hayden Hayes, and Issak Sistrunk each finding the back of the net.

Thanks to their strong finish, the boys have earned a first-round playoff bye. They will have a little extra time to rest and prepare before their postseason opener on April 29.
