Montgomery County Board of Education made several personnel changes during a called meeting on March 25, as the Board continues to prepare for the 2026/2027 school year.
During the meeting, resignations were accepted from Custodian Janet Woodall and Montgomery County Elementary School Teacher Jessie Jarrard.
Sherry Brazell was hired as the Montgomery County Elementary School Department of Exceptional Learning Self Contained Class teacher, Betty Anne Absher was approved to become one of the district’s bookkeepers (49%), Hunter Couch and David Stapleton were hired to teach high school science, and Carson Morris was approved to teach high school health and P.E. fitness.
Board members adjusted the transfer dates for Montgomery County High School Assistant Principal Bo Boatright and Montgomery County Elementary School Assistant Principal Will Adams, as Boatright will be transitioning to become the Montgomery County Elementary School Assistant Principal, Department of Exceptional Learning Site Coordinator, and Pre-K Coordinator, while Adams will return to the classroom as a Montgomery County High School family and consumer science teacher. Montgomery County Middle School Math Teacher Josh Harrell will transfer to the Montgomery County Elementary School Department of Exceptional Learning.
Several individuals were rehired by the district. After several years, Michelle Rhodes will rejoin the district as the Montgomery County Middle School Counselor, while Melina Weeks Glisson joins the school system as a bus driver. Former longtime science teacher Joyce Allen will also return to Montgomery County High School’s classrooms, as she will teach high school science part-time.
The meeting was adjourned with no further action after the Board voted on these changes.
