The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons flag football team closed out its inaugural season hosting the Night Hawks of Thomas University on April 11. The Barons struggled to contain the Night Hawks, losing the game 41-6.

The Barons took their only lead at 6:45 of the first quarter when Liani Gil connected for a touchdown pass with Ciara O’Brien, though the extra-point try failed. Thomas evened the score later in the quarter on a touchdown by Destiny Lockett, also without a conversion, and then shifted the game in the second quarter.

Lockett scored on a 5-yard run with 5:22 left in the half to put Thomas in front 12-6. Thomas added another late touchdown with 11 seconds remaining, then found the end zone again at the buzzer to carry a 26-6 lead into halftime. The Night Hawks twice more in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on miscues from the Barons, including interceptions, pushing their lead to 416.

The Barons will begin the offseason looking ahead, knowing the competition they will face. Next season, the Barons and several teams from their conference will be moving to the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Barons’ coaching staff has already begun prioritizing recruiting and building the program's foundation for the future.
