Eagles Rout Trinity of Griffin
The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles baseball capitalized on their lone matchup last week, securing a decisive 10-2 home victory over the Trinity Christian School Lions on Tuesday to improve their overall season record to 7-6.
Trinity struck first, scratching across a run in the top of the second inning to take an early lead. The Eagles answered back in the bottom of the third when Jake Adams drove a pivotal two-run double, flipping the scoreboard to give VHA a 2-1 advantage that they would not relinquish.
The VHA offense broke the game wide open in the late innings. The Eagles rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth to stretch their lead to 6-1, then replicated the effort with another four-run surge in the sixth to make it a commanding 10-1 ballgame. Trinity managed to push one final consolation run across in the top of the seventh, but VHA comfortably closed out the win. Maddyx Herrin fueled the offensive output with a teamhigh four hits, while Adams and Bragg Alford anchored the run production with three RBIs apiece.
With the nonregion win in the books, the Eagles now pivot to the start of their Region schedule. VHA opened a critical three-game series against Citizens Christian on Monday, with game two played Tuesday after presstime. The Eagles will wrap up the series on their home diamond this Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
