On Friday of last week Vidalia Heritage Academy had two student- athletes sign to play baseball at the next level. Ledger Curl will be heading to Gordon State College and Dalton Price is heading to Daytona State College. Both are standout players for the Eagles and have been instrumental in the baseball program's success.

Curl

Curl said, “It is a great feeling, hard to comprehend and let sink in, but just thankful to be here. It has been fun, this experience, and I’m looking forward to going to Gordon. I really loved the coach, just a great guy, talked me through the process, and I really felt comfortable with the program. It is pretty close to home so I can come back when I want, and they just play good baseball. I have to thank the Lord, my dad who has done so much over the years, Coach Sitzman who has helped me a lot over the years and just led me, and of course all of my teammates.”

Larry Curl, his father, added, “We are just proud of him for all he has done. He took it upon himself to really hit the weight room, and he busted his butt to sharpen his skills. The Lord has blessed him, and he has worked really hard to get to this point. He is living out his dream. He had a couple of other offers, but he really liked the coach and it just felt right to him. Not too far away from home, but just far enough, was the perfect fit. Coach Sitzman really made an impact on him over the years, and to be a part of this program from the beginning has really meant something to him.”

Head Coach Seth Sitzman stated, “I have had the privilege of coaching Ledger since he was in fifth grade. He is just the type of kid that you want on your team. He has a lot of power in his bat and is the kid you want at the plate in the bottom of the seventh when you really need a big hit. He has just been a great leader for us and is just a fun kid to coach. I know that he will have great success and is going to jump right in at Gordon.”

Price

Price stated, “It has been a cool experience. I was glad that I got to go there and show them what I had. The coaches and the atmosphere of the school were really great, and it just fits for me. I want to thank Coach Sitzman for pushing me, and my teammates for all they have done. Just working hard and looking forward to what comes next.”

Price’s mother Kristy said, “We are just excited for him. If he puts in the effort, it can be a great future for him. This is a great opportunity for him, and he just loves the coach, the team, everything that they have. They offer several programs that other places don’t, with machining and welding, and he just thought that was the right fit for him. We are just really proud of him, and we know that he is going to do well at Daytona.'

Head Coach Seth Sitzman added, “I have been coaching Dalton for a couple of years, and he has been a big arm for us. He has an aggressive delivery and has been our third game guy in our playoff series and been a good closer for us. He is going to have success at Daytona. He fell in love with the campus when he went, and we are excited to see him at the next level.”
