VHS Golf Wins Match

The Vidalia High School Boys Golf Team defeated Toombs County and West Laurens Thursday in The Battle at Brazell’s Creek.

The Indians recorded their lowest team score of the year, 154. West Laurens placed second with a 159, and Toombs County shot 167. The Indians’ low medalist was Andrew Velasquez, who fired a 35. Austin Mosely followed with a 36, while Tucker Reynolds shot 40 and Sam Sapp shot 43.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Indians defeated Toombs County but fell to West Laurens. The Lady Raiders shot an 89 to take first place, Vidalia shot a 109, and Toombs County finished with a 110.

This week Vidalia was part of the inaugural Vidalia vs. Toombs Ryder Cup. That event took place on Tuesday at Brazell's Creek after presstime. It was played in a match play format.
