MCHS Falls To Jenkins Co.

The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team fell to 7-13 on the year and are 4-5 in Region play after losing three games of their Region series with Jenkins County last week.

Game 1

In the first game of the three-game series on Monday of last week in Mt. Vernon, the Eagles fell behind early and couldn't catch up. Jenkins picked up a run in the top of the first inning, but the Eagles answered in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 1-1.

In the top of the second inning, Jenkins added three more runs, but MCHS scored one in the bottom half to make the score 4-2. Jenkins plated one run in the top of the third inning and then three more in the fourth as they pushed their lead to 8-2.

The Eagles scored a run in the fifth inning, but one from Jenkins in the sixth and one in the seventh gave Jenkins a 10-3 lead. The Eagles managed to get one more in the bottom of the seventh, but fell to the War Eagles, 10-4.

Marquis Martin led MCHS with 2 RBI's.

Game 2

The Eagles were in Millen on Wednesday for a double header against Jenkins. In the first game, MCHS scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Jenkins answered with four in the bottom of the frame. Jenkins added three more in the second inning and one in the third as they took a 8-1 lead.

Jenkins plated one more run in the fifth inning, but MCHS added four runs in the top of the sixth inning to close the lead to 9-5. Jenkins held MCHS in the seventh inning to win the game, 9-5.

Neal Hower had 2 RBI's in the game for the Eagles.

Game 3

In the final game of the week, the Eagles dropped the game to Jenkins by the score of 12-2.

This week the Eagles will wrap up Region play with a three-game series against Emanuel County Institute. They played the first game on Monday of this week after presstime. They will play a double header on Wednesday with the first game starting at 4:00 p.m.
