VHS Hosts Indian Invitational

The Vidalia High School Indian Invitational Track Meet brought together athletes from various schools and regions, converging on Vidalia High School's track with dreams of personal bests and triumphs. The atmosphere was sparked with anticipation as participants prepared to push their limits and leave everything on the track. The Indians did not disappoint as the Lady Indians and the Indians both won the team championship.

For the girls, Vidalia took the title with 204.5 points. Second place went to Metter with 92.5 points and third was Coffee County with 92 points. For the boys, Vidalia won with 150 points, second place went to Jenkins County with 130 points, and Coffee took third with 123 points.

Among the standout performances was the record- breaking feat achieved by Takaiya Bacon in the triple jump, as she tied the school record of 37'00' held by Myesha Hall. Takaiya won the Long Jump and Triple jump with personal best jumps in both events.

Girls

The Lady Indians that placed in the top two in their events were Bacon with 1st in both the long and triple jumps, Georgia Meredith with 1st in both the 1,600m and 3,200m runs and Maniyah Phillips with 1st place in the discus. J'Miya Hunt came in 2nd in the 100m and 200m dashes, Dashia Ford was 2nd in the 100m and 300m hurdles, and Rori Johnson was 2nd in the shot put.

The 4x100m relay team of Kayden Love, Journey Clements, Zaviyana Walton, and J'Miya Hunt finsihed in 1st place; the 4x200m team of Kayden Love, Dashia Ford, Zaviyana Walton, and J'Miya Hunt came in 1st place; and the 4x400m team of Mischa Wardlaw, Zaviayana Walton, Dreshiya Jackson, and Aidyn Driggers also took 1st place.

Boys

The Indians that placed in the top two in their events were Cash Driggers, who took 1st place in both the 800m and 1,600m runs, Jayden Yount was 1st in the 100m dash, AJ Thomas was 1st in the high jump, and Stephen Cheeks was 1st in the shot put. Jarques Mitchell came in 2nd in both the shot put and discus, Jordan Johnson took 2nd in the 400m run, and Andrew Hodges finished 2nd in the 1,600m run.

The 4x100m relay team of Jayden Young, Alton Boles, Jerry Roundtree and Nolan Wade took 1st place; the 4x400m team of Andrew Hodges, Jordan Johnson, Alton Boles and Cash Driggers finished in 1st place; and the 4x800m team of Andrew Hodges, Jordan Johnson, Cash Driggers and Jaden Bennett came in 2nd place.

Coach Mandy Godbee said, “As the coach of our amazing teams, I couldn't be more proud of each and every athlete who competed in the Indian Invitational Track Meet. Your dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship have not only led to outstanding performances but have also exemplified the true spirit of athletics.”
