Vidalia high school track teams had a strong showing at the Indian Invitational. Indians faced some steep competition at the Indian Invitational on Friday night of last week. The Lady Indians placed 3rd as a team as Richmond Hill scored 177 points, Valdosta 135 points, and Vidalia 85 points. The boys placed 5th as a team to Brunswick- 155 points, Valdosta- 117 points, Richmond Hill-91, HV Jenkins- 80 points, and Vidalia-63 points.

Girls

Placing for the Lady Indians were Georgia Meredith with 1st in the 1,600m and 2nd in the 800m, and Takaiya Bacon with 1st in the long jump and 3rd in the triple jump. Kayden Love was 4th in the 100m, J'Miya Hunt took 5th in the 100m, and Dashia Ford was 5th in the 100m hurdles. continued from page

The relay team of Dashia Ford, Dreshiyah Jackson, Kayden Love and J'Miya Hunt took 3rd in the 4x200m, and the team of Dashia Ford, Zaviyana Walton, Journey Clements and Kayden Love was 3rd in the 4x400m.

Boys

Cash Driggers took 2nd in the 800m and 2nd in the 1600m, Andrew Hodges was 3rd in the 1600m, and 5th in the 800m, and Jarques Mitchell finished 2nd in the shot put and 4th in the discus.

Jordan Brown was 5th in the triple jump, and Stephen Cheeks took 3rd in the shot put.

The relay team of Andrew Hodges, Jordan Johnson, Adrian Newkirk and Cash Driggers came in 3rd in the 4x400m.

Coach Mandy Godbee said, “I am excited about our efforts and results this early in the season as they braved the head winds and rain throughout the meet and competed very well against some very talented teams. Georgia Meredith came away with 2 huge personal best times in the 1600 and 3200 and ran a great race in the 800. Takaiya Bacon came up big with a personal best to win the long jump. Cash Driggers turned in big personal best performances as well in the 1600 and 800. Jordan Brown exceeded his personal best in triple jump by nearly 3 feet.”
