The TCHS Fishing Team of AJ Bagby and Lane Bagby competed in the GA Bass Nation State Championship at Lake Seminole on Friday June 12 and Saturday June 13. The duo caught a 3-fish limit of 12.08 on Day 1 and a 3-fish limit of 10.13 on Day 2 to finish the tourney in 11th place with a total of 22.21 pounds.
AJ and Lane have qualified for the Bassmaster National Championship at Kentucky Lake on July 30, July 31, and August 1. Only eight teams in the State of Georgia qualified for the Bassmaster National Championship. The GA Bass Nation reported that 584 High School Teams competed in the GA Bass Nation Regional Tournaments this season. So this is a very special achievement to be ranked the 4th Best High School Fishing Team in the entire State of Georgia and to be heading to compete in the Bassmaster National Championship.
'We are super excited to be heading to the Bassmaster National Championship at Kentucky Lake. The Lord has blessed us with a great year this season. We got a win at Clarks Hill and were in the Top 10 for almost every tournament this season. Finishing 4th in the AOY (Angler of the Year) points shows how consistent we were this season. We are going to the Bassmaster National Championship to compete against 250+ of the best high schools teams in the nation. We are so proud to be representing Toombs County and we going all in to bring home a National Championship,' said AJ Bagby.
The TCHS Lake Dawgs would like to thank their primary sponsors for their support this season. A special thanks goes out to Gordy Tires & Brakes, McClendon Enterprises, Trane Technologies, Altamaha Bank & Trust, Altamaha EMC & Fiber, Lasseter Tractor & John Deere, and Greenline Distributors.
