VHS Cheerleaders Continue a Legacy of Excellence

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Vidalia High School seniors Journey Clements and Nylah Harvey proudly represented Vidalia High School at the 2026 Georgia Cheer Coaches Association (GCCA) Cheerleader of the Year Competition on Saturday, August 1, at Columbus State University's Lumpkin Center.
More than 200 cheerleaders from across Georgia submitted applications for the 2026 GCCA Cheerleader of the Year Competition. Following the application process, Clements and Harvey were selected as two of only 30 candidates in the A–4A Division earning the opportunity to compete among Georgia's top senior cheerleaders.
Candidates were evaluated through a comprehensive interview and performance competition that assessed communication skills, jumps, tumbling, partner stunting, dance, cheer, and overall presentation, highlighting both athletic ability and leadership.
Clements and Harvey are both four-year lettermen in the Vidalia High School Cheerleading program and have been leaders on the Indians' Competition and Game Day teams throughout their high school careers. Together, they helped lead Vidalia to the 2023 GHSA Game Day State Championship and have consistently exemplified excellence, commitment, and school pride.
Journey's interview and performance at the 2026 GCCA Cheerleader of the Year Competition earned her a place on the 2026 GCCA A–4A All-State Cheerleading Team. She was one of 16 cheerleaders in the division selected for this honor, recognizing her excellence in leadership, communication, and athletic performance.
