BPC Women At Mid-South Championships

The Brewton-Parker College women’s wrestling team finished seventh out of 10 teams at the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ky. on Friday.

No. 10-ranked Jamesa Robinson picked up a fifth-place finish in the 116 pound-division. Robinson started the day with a 15-0 tech fall over Riley Horvath from Indiana Tech. In the second match of the day, No. 7 Icart Galumette from Campbellsville (Ky.) took down Robinson in a 59 second fall. Robinson took her second loss to Indiana Tech’s Emma Jones in an 8-0 major decision. Robinson picked up a 2:11 fall in the fifth-place match over Genesis Diaz from Lourdes (Ohio) to take fifth place.

At the 130 poundweight class, Kathleen Fisher produced a 1:23 fall over Charlotte Wheeler from Montreat (N.C.) to start the day. In the second match of the day, Fisher fell to No. 11 Olivia Messerly from Campbellsville in a 2:34 pin. Fisher bounced back and picked up a 3:54 pin over Migdalys Ramos from Cumberlands (Ky.) and a 36-second fall over Kylie Berringer from Rochester (Mich.). In the fifth match of the day, Fisher took a 14-4 tech fall from No. 12 Riley Dalrymple from Life (Ga.) and ended the day taking a 7-6 decision loss in the fifth-place match to Tonya Flourory from St. Andrews (N.C.) to finish sixth overall.

Jorie Richardson finished in fifth place in the 136-pound division. Richardson gathered a fall over Lillian Ruesink from Siena Heights (Mich.) in the opening match of the day. In the quarterfinals, Richardson was dropped in a 7-2 decision to No. 10 Angie Prado from Life. In the next match, Richardson gathered a 15-0 tech fall over Markia Mingo-Strain from St. Andrews, before slipping in a fall from Campbellsville’s Addison Messerly. Richardson finished the day picking up a 4-2 decision victory over Indiana Tech’s Carley Anderson to take fifth place.

Tashayla West and Jaelynn Sunseri both competed in the 109-pound division, but went 0-2 on the day.
