A compilation of quotations on a variety of issues by national, state and regional writers, well-known personalities, just plain everyday people and from various publications collected by the editors of THE ADVANCE.

Quotes for our Times:

Dennis Prager, radio talk show host: If you say men give birth, we know your position on Hamas.

When people say that men give birth and that men can compete in women's sports, they are seeking to undo the bases of Western civilization: truth, science, and the belief that we live in an ordered universe. That is why the left is so adamant about denying that sex ('gender') is binary. The fact that there are only two sexes represents order — natural and, worse, divine.

Those on the left unwittingly acknowledge the connection between their anti-Western positions and their Israel-hatred. They routinely attack Israel for being an 'outpost of Western civilization.' That is precisely what Israel is. Which tells you a great deal about both of Israel's enemies — the left and much of the Muslim world.

Byron York, chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner: Explaining Trump's big win.

The fact is, the Iowa caucuses confirmed what the polls had said for months. The Republican race is Donald Trump far ahead, and a couple of other candidates far behind. If that dynamic continues, it will not come as a shock that the candidate who is far ahead will win.

Mark Lewis, a native Texan currently living in Thailand and author: People will follow their leaders.

We don’t need go back any farther than 100 years — Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, the Kims, Pol Pot, Castro — “leaders” who led their sheep. And ended up slaughtering millions of them.

But when have humans ever paid attention to history when it warns them against the pleasure-loving, debauched, selfish pathway they are treading? I can answer that question easily: never. In America’s case, it’s happening and it’s a pathway the Democratic Party is spreading before us as blatantly as possible. It leads to power for the “leaders,” and that is what they want most of all.

Hugh Hewitt, one of the country’s leading journalists of the center-right: Morning Glory: What did Iowa's evangelicals do? (And why did they do it?)

As I wrote over the weekend, this is going to be a 10/7 election, not a 1/6 election. If the world continues to tumble into intense conflict, of whom will America’s enemies be more wary: Trump or Biden? Some may answer 'Ron DeSantis' or 'Nikki Haley' and almost certainly those two — just like Trump — will give America’s foes much more pause than the Appeasement Caucus around the infirm president. But Trump vs. Biden in a dangerous world with barbarians committing massacres? That’s not going to be close.

And please, Manhattan-Beltway media elites and professional analysts, put away the impulse to assume everyone or even most people vote their identity. Consider that most vote their future and the futures of their children and grandchildren.
