8U Softball At Partin Park

The 60th Annual Lyons Youth Tournament wrapped up last week at Partin Park. In the 8U Softball Tournament, no local teams made it to the finals, but Vidalia did get to the quarterfinals before being knocked out.

In the first round Vidalia kicked things off with a game against Appling County. It was a high scoring contest with a total of 35 runs scored. Vidalia came out on top with a 23-12 victory.

Lyons rolled in their first round game over Reidsville. Lyons won their game by the run rule, 219.

In the second round Lyons had a tough matchup as they dropped their game to Evans County by the score of 23-6. Vidalia also lost their game to Long County. VRD fell to Long 23-18 in another high scoring game.

Lyons' first game in the losers' bracket was against Appling County. Appling came out on top as Lyons struggled to get the bats going. Appling won the game 16-3 over Lyons to end their run in the tournament.

Vidalia bounced back with a win in the their first losers' bracket game. Vidalia took on Swainsboro and came out on top, 10-7. That moved VHS to the quarterfinals for a rematch with Appling.

It was another high scoring game, this time with 38 runs scored. But in this game it was Appling that was the winner. They beat Vidalia 20-18 in a close one to end the VRD run.

Appling fell in the next round to Evans County, 24-14. That put Evans and Long in the finals with Long winning the Championship Game 24- 14.
