12U Softball At Partin Park

In the 60th Annual Lyons Youth Tournament, the local teams of Lyons and Vidalia didn't fare too well in the 12U Softball Tournament. Lyons made it to the quarterfinals, but was knocked out with Long County taking the tournament title. Wheeler County also made a short run in the tournament.

Lyons had an easy go in their first round game as they took on Evans County. Lyons ran away with the win, 13-1.

Vidalia on the other hand started out against one of the best teams in the tournament, Glennville. Glennville rolled to a 12-3 win over VRD, sending them into the losers' bracket.

Lyons' next matchup was against Swainsboro, and this time it was Lyons on the bottom end of the score. Swainsboro defeated the LRD girls by the score of 6-2. That moved Lyons into the losers' bracket.

Wheeler County's first game of the tournament was against Statesboro, and Wheeler took the easy win, 12-0. But Wheeler dropped their next game 3-0 to Swainsboro.

In the losers' bracket Wheeler County fell to Soperton 7-0 to end their tournament run.

Vidalia won their next game over Statesboro, 9-4, moving them on to face Appling County in the next round. Appling got the bats going as they put 16 runs on the board on the way to a 16-3 win. That knocked Vidalia out of the tournament.

Lyons turned the tables on Appling in the next round. Lyons led 3-1 after the first inning, and by the end of the second inning were on top 10-1. Lyons went on to win the game 20-4 over Appling.

But in the next round Lyons faced off with Glennville, and their tournament came to an end there. Lyons dropped the game 11-3, to Glennville.

Glennville went on to defeat Swainsboro in the semifinals, 11-3, and then faced Long County in the finals. Glennville won the first game, 4-3, but Long took the second game 9-2, to win the tournament.
