Wheeler Falls To McIntosh

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs baseball team ran into Mc-Intosh County Academy's Buccaneers on Thursday of last week at home in the GHSA State Playoffs. Wheeler fell to the Bucs in the best-of-three series to end their season with a record of 16-13.

Game 1

The Bucs got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning. They added another run in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Neither team scored over the next two innings, but in the top of the fifth the Bucs plated one more run to lead 4-0.

McIntosh scored three more runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 7-0 win in Game 1 of the series.

Game 2 In the second game of the series the Bucs jumped out with three runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. Wheeler plated a run in the bottom of the frame, but McIntosh answered with a run in the top of the second inning for a 4-1 lead.

MCA scored one more in the sixth inning to lead 5-1, and Wheeler got one across in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 5-2. Neither team scored in the seventh inning as McIntosh took the game 5-2, and won the series to advance in the playoffs.

The loss ended the season for the Bulldogs.
