The Toombs County Bulldogs jumped on the Pierce County Bears early on Tuesday afternoon, but lost 11-5 in a game that the Bears pulled away in late.

The game was tied at five with Pierce County batting in the top of the sixth when a Bear singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Pierce County would add three more runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth to finish things off.

In the first inning, Toombs County got their offense started when Trayvone Harris hit a solo shot over the center field fence. We added another three runs in the third inning with Tucker Braddy contributing with an RBI double. The Dawgs racked up ten hits on the day as Will Watts, Jesus Quintero, and Harris all had multiple hits. Watts went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits.

Harris took the loss for the Dawgs on the mound. The right-hander allowed 11 hits and ten runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

Game 2

Despite seeing its sixrun lead whittled down at the end, the Toombs County Bulldog Baseball team held off Pierce County for a 9-7 victory in Blackshear on Tuesday, securing another trip to the GHSA State Playoffs.

The Bulldogs got down early in the game but took the lead and pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the inning, Ryder Sears drew a walk, scoring one run. Dawson Brantley singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Trayvone Harris hit into a fielder’s choice to score another run.

Game 3

The Toombs County Bulldogs fell behind early on Senior Night and couldn’t come back in a 3-1 loss to Pierce County on Wednesday. Pierce scored all three of their runs in the top of the first inning, and that was all they needed as Toombs couldn't get much going and scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Lucas O’Conner took the loss for the Bulldogs. The righty surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out two.

Tucker Braddy and O’Conner each had one hit to lead the Dawgs.

This week Toombs faced off with Westside of Augusta with a double header on Monday in a best-of-three series. Westside is the #2 seed out of Region 4AA. They will play on Tuesday in the if game if they split on Monday. All games are after presstime.
