Two Wins For Heritage

The Eagles of Vidalia Heritage Academy played three games last week and won two of them. VHA defeated Telfair County on Monday and beat The Habersham School on Tuesday. Heritage lost to Gatewood Academy on Friday in extra innings. vs. Telfair

It was a close game between the Eagles and the Trojans on Monday. VHA got the scoring started in the top of the second inning with two runs.

Telfair tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 2-2, but VHA added a run in the top of the fifth inning for a 3-2 lead. Heritage then held in the sixth and seventh to take the win, 3-2.

Ledger Curl led the team with 2 hits, and Greer Posey got the win on the mound. vs. Habersham

It was a three inning blowout for the Eagles over the Patriots of Habersham with two Eagles getting home runs in the game.

In the top of the first inning, VHA scored five runs to take the early lead, but it was the second inning that put the game away. Heritage went on a tear as they plated 13 runs in the inning to push their lead to 18-0. The Eagles scored three more in the third inning on the way to a 21-0 win.

Curl led the way with 3 hits including a home run and 7 RBI's. Greyson Price also had a home run in the game and picked up 6 RBI's. Gray McNeal was the winning pitcher for Heritage. vs. Gatewood

It was a close game that needed an extra inning to be decided. Heritage went up early with a run in the first and another in the second inning to lead 2-0. VHA made it 3-0 in the fifth inning, but in the top of the sixth Gatewood plated two runs to close it to 3-2.

Heritage answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead, but in the top of the seventh inning Gatewood scored two more runs to tie the game at 4-4. Heritage couldn't get a run across in the bottom of the seventh as the game went to extra innings.

In the top of the eighth inning Gatewood put something together as they scored three runs to take a 7-4 lead. Gatewood then held Heritage in the bottom half as they got the win over the Eagles 7- 4.

This week VHA was at Robert Toombs on Tuesday after presstime. On Thursday they will play Treutlen at 6:00 p.m. in Soperton, and then on Friday VHS will be at home against Habersham at 4:30 p.m.
