The Vidalia High School Indians tennis teams were busy last week with three matches. They kicked off the week with a sweep of rival Toombs County on Monday, split with Tattnall County on Tuesday, and then bounced back with a sweep of Dublin on Thursday. vs. Toombs

On Monday afternoon, the boys and girls tennis teams won critical region matches with Toombs County 5-0, and 4-1 respectively. The Boys were led by Caleb Beck at 1st singles, who defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-0. At 2nd Singles, Danny Richardson followed up with a strong performance winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Senior Delorenzo Lawrence made it 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 score. 1st doubles, Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen had the closest match of the day playing 3 sets to seal the win 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The 2nd Doubles team, Ayden Goss and Larsen Carter made it 5-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

For the Girls, Layla Brantley won at 1st singles, 6-4, 6-3. Cate Wilcox won a 3rd singles, 6-0, 6-0 and 1st doubles, Emma Beck and Deidra Boston won 6-4, 6-3. 2nd Doubles, Sadie Berry and Abby Brantley got the final win, 6-0, 6-0. vs. Tattnall

Tuesday afternoon the boys kept their playoff hopes alive by defeating Tattnall County 4-1. Again, the boys got a strong performance from theirsinglesteams. Caleb Beck at 1st singles won 6-3, 6-0. 2nd singles, Danny Richardson followed up with a 6-2, 6-0 win, and Delorenzo Lawrence made it 3-0 with a 6-3,4-6,6-3score. The 2nd Doubles team, Ayden Goss and Larsen Carter pushed their winning streak to eight by coming from behind to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

For the girls, it took 3 sets, and in some cases tiebreaker decisions, but only 1st doubles, Emma Beck and Deidra Boston came out on top 7-6 (TB 9-7), 6-4. vs. Dublin

Thursday evening, the boys and girls tennis teams defeated the Dublin Fighting Irish 5-0, and 4-1 respectively. Caleb Beck at 1st singles won 6-2, 6-2. At 2nd singles, Danny Richardson won 6-0, 6-0, and freshman Larsen Carter at 3rd singles also won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. 1stdoubles,Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen won 6-0, 6-0 and 2nd doubles Delorenzo Lawrence and Cameron Phillips made it 5-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

For the girls, Layla Brantley won at 1st singles, 6-2, 6-1. At 2nd singles, Kailyn Walker won 6-2, 6-4, and Cate Wilcox won at 3rd singles, 6-2, 6-4. 2nddoubles,Sadie Berry and Abby Brantley got the final win, 6-0, 6-1.

Both teams will travel to Pierce County High School on Thursday, March 23. Match time is 4:00 p.m.
