Wheeler Drops 4 Games

The Wheeler County High School basketball teams dropped games to Dublin and to Telfair County last week.

Girls vs. Dublin

Wheeler hosted Dublin on Tuesday of last week and were swept by the Fighting Irish. In the girls game Dublin jumped out to a 17-5 lead in the first quarter and pushed that lead to 30-7 at halftime.

Dublin cruised in the second half of the game and took the win 60-22. Wheeler was led by Nikita James with 13 points and Mahogany King added 8.

Boys vs. Dublin

It was a big first quarter for the Irish that decided the game. They opened the game up on a run and by the end of the first they were on top 27-9. Wheeler got going in the second quarter, but by halftime they were trailing 50-27.

Wheeler held their own in the second half of the game, but Dublin took the win 84-57.

Girls vs. Telfair

In McRae on Saturday the Trojans were on top 2511 in the first quarter and held a 38-25 halftime lead. Telfair added to the lead in the third quarter as they were up 56-34, and took the win 71-36.

King led Wheeler with 23 points.

Boys vs. Telfair

It was another tough game for the Bulldogs as they fell to the Trojans 7754.

The Lady Bulldogs are now 1-14 on the year and the boys are 3-11. This week Wheeler hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday after presstime. They will host the Bobcats of Dooly County on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday the Red Devils of Hawkinsville will be in town at 4:00 p.m.
