The Toombs County High School basketball teams took on Vidalia High School on Tuesday of last week, and the boys picked up a win over the Herons of Brantley County at home on Friday.

Girls vs. Vidalia

The girls game was all Vidalia as they took a 9-2 lead in the first quarter and pushed that to 28-7 by halftime.

In the third quarter VHS outscored Toombs 14-5 to hold a 42-12 heading to the fourth. Vidalia took the win 52-15 over the Lady Bulldogs.

Boys vs. Vidalia

The boys dropped a tough one to their crosstown rivals from Vidalia, the Dawgs came up short 50-45.

The first quarter started out back and forth early on keeping the score tight, but after two 3-pointers from Braylan McMillian and Cam Faison, as well as two made free-throws at the end of the quarter, the Dawgs took a 16-7 lead.

The second quarter was similar, with each team trading baskets. As the quarter continued on, the Indians from Vidalia were able to go on a run and cut the lead to one. The Dawgs led 27-26 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs went through a scoring drought, and the Indians were able to take full advantage of it. Vidalia outscored Toombs 14-2 in the third quarter, taking a 40-29 lead into the fourth period.

In the fourth, the Dawgs were able to mount a comeback and get some momentum going. Dominic Eason started to find his way to the rim possession after possession, leading the charge. The Bulldogs ended up tieing the game up at 42 with just over 3 minutes to go in the game, but the late comeback fell just a little short as Vidalia was able to score a couple of key baskets late to hold on to the win.

The Dawgs were led by Dominic Eason with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Braylan Mc-Millian scored 11 points, and Jesus Quintero added 5 points and 5 rebounds.
