The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders football team hosted Edmund Burke Academy last Friday night for Homecoming. The Crusaders took the win to improve their record to 4-5 on the season.

During halftime of the game RTCA crowned a new Homecoming Queen and Princess. Amily Mixon was named as Homecoming Queen and Nicole Acosta was named as Princess.

RTCA put the first points on the board in the first quarter of the game. TJ Stanley connected with Jashaun Powell for an 18yard touchdown pass. Justin Bowers added the extra point for a 7-0 lead with 8:45 still on the clock.

Edmund Burke came back and did get a touchdown later in the first. They connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass play and then tacked on the extra point to tie the game at 7-7.

In the second quarter Regan Smith intercepted a Spartans pass at the Crusaders 14-yard line. RTCA then drove the ball continued from page

down the field and Bowers kicked a 33-yard Field Goal with 5:21 left in the first half. RTCA led 10-7 at halftime.

In the third quarter Jayden Toole stopped a Spartans drive with an interception for the Crusaders. RTCA got on the scoreboard with 7:22 left in the period when Elijah Baker ran the ball into the endzone from 9-yards out. The two-point conversion was good when Stanley hit Jashaun Powell with a pass. RTCA extended their lead to 18-7. The Spartans came back down the field and scored with 5:23 remaining in the third quarter on a 25-yard touchdown to cut into the RTCA lead. The PAT was good to close the lead to 18-14. The Crusaders ended the scoring in the third quarter when Justin Powell scored on a 3-yard run. Bowers kicked the PAT to make it 25-14 with RTCA on top. EBA led the scoring off in the fourth quarter when Mobley scored from the 3-yard line with 11:12 left in the contest. The two-point conversion try was no good, but that made it 25-20 with RTCA up by just five points.

RTCA extended their lead on their next offensive possession. Justin Powell scored from 65-yards out. The two-point try was no good to push the RTCA lead back out to 31-20. On the next defensive series for RTCA, Jayden Toole intercepted a Spartans pass at the Crusaders 20-yard line stopping a drive with 7:40 remaining. The Crusaders came back down the field and scored next on a 40-yard run by Stanley with 2:10 left in the game. Hayden Meeks kicked the extra point to put RTCA on top 38-20. Toole sealed the win for the Crusaders when he got his third interception of the game with just 1:43 remaining. That gave RTCA the 38-20 win over EBA. This week RTCA is off, but they will get back to action next week at home. The Crusaders will host the Jaguars of Thomas Jefferson Academy.
