Four Wins For Heritage

The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles baseball team won four games last week as they improved their record to 17-3-1, and 3-0 in Region play. VHA picked up a win on Monday over East Laurens, on Thursday they defeated Bradwell Institiute, and then on Saturday they beat both Thomas Jefferson and Brentwood Academy. vs. E. Laurens

Heritage jumped out to a big lead in the first inning as they put seven runs on the board. East Laurens had scored one run in the top of the first inning, but VHA went to work in the bottom of the frame. VHA loaded the bases and Trevor White drew a walk to score the first run. An error brought in another run, and then a walk by Greer Posey made it 3-0. Hardy Franklin hit a baseclearing double to push the lead to 6-0 and then VHA picked up one more run to lead 7-0.

The Falcons scored a run in the top of the third, but VHA answered in the bottom half with two more, and then they scored three in the fourth as they won the game by the run rule, 12-2. vs. Bradwell

Heritage rolled over Bradwell Institute on Thursday. Heritage scored three runs in the top of the first inning and added five more in the second to take an 8-0 lead. VHA then scored two more in the third before Bradwell scored four in the bottom of the third to make the score 10-4.

But in the top of the fourth inning, Heritage exploded for 11 runs as they went on to win the game by the run rule, 21-4. vs. Thomas Jefferson

Posey had a solid day on the mound as he stuck out 12 batters on the way to another win for the Eagles.

Thomas Jefferson led the game after the second inning, 1-0, but VHA took the lead in the third inning as they plated three runs. JT Cofield doubled to bring in two runs and Dalton Price drew a bases-loaded walk to make the continued from page

score 3-1. In the fourth, VHA extended their lead as Cofield, White, Franklin and Price all drove in runs for the Eagles. That put Hertiage on top 8-1. Thomas Jefferson scored a run in the fifth and one more in the sixth, but that was all they could get as VHA took the win, 8-3. vs. Brentwood

In the final game of the week, the Eagles took on Brentwood Academy. This game was all Cofield as he hit two home runs and had 6 RBI's in the game to lead the Eagles. In the top of the second inning, Price drove in two runs with an RBI single, and then another run scored on an error to put VHA up 3-0. That was followed by a three-run home run by Cofield to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead.

Brentwood picked up a run in the bottom of the second inning, but two more from Heritage in the fourth gave them an 8-1 lead. Brentwood scored two more in the botttom of the fourth, but the Eagles answered with four more in the fifth inning, including another threerun home run by Cofield.

VHA went on to win the game 13-5 over Brentwood to close out the good week.

This week VHA played Charlton County on Monday of this week after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday on the road at Brentwood at 4:00 p.m., and they will wrap up the regular season at home on Friday against Habersham at 4:30 p.m.
