Montgomery County Commissioners proudly announce the receipt of a $3,000,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. This grant, from the Department of Natural Resources’ state budget, is slated for capital improvements at JM Fountain Park, located at 393 W. Morrison Street, Mount Vernon, Georgia.

We applaud Governor Brian Kemp for his ongoing commitment to rural Georgia. This significant amount of funding emphasizes the state’s dedication to improving local recreational infrastructure and enhancing our community’s health and wellness initiatives. The capital improvements at JM Fountain Park will provide our citizens with greater access to outdoor activities and community interactions.

Leland Adams, Chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, welcomed the grant with open arms: 'We’re incredibly thankful for this grant—it’s a big win for everyone in Montgomery County. The improvements at JM Fountain Park are going to make it a great place for families to spend time and enjoy outdoor activities.'

Kendall Bennamon, Director of the Montgomery County Recreation Department, also shared his enthusiasm about the project funding: 'This funding is a game changer for JM Fountain Park and the entire community. The improvements will transform the park into a destination for recreation, boosting our ability to host events and activities that unite our community.'

Montgomery County extends its sincere thanks to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for their support in this endeavor. Again, the County would like to express gratitude to Governor Brian Kemp, as well as Senator Blake Tillery and Representative Leesa Hagan for their advocacy and efforts in securing this grant for the benefit of all residents of Montgomery County.

Details concerning the specific improvements will be forthcoming, and additional information will be released to the public as the project progresses.
