Tough Week For Wheeler

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs softball team had a rough week as they fell to Toombs County and Wilcox County.

Vs. Toombs

Wheeler got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but TCHS came back with eight runs in the top of the second inning and then added eight more in the fourth inning. That gave Toombs the win by the run rule, 16-1 over Wheeler.

Vs. Wilcox

In this game Wheeler again was the first to score as they plated a run in the bottom of the second inning, but in the top of the third Wilcox jumped ahead with four runs. The Patriots added a run in the fourth inning and then two more in the fifth to lead 7-1. Wheeler scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Wilcox blew the game open in the top of the sixth with 10 runs on their way to a 17-2 win.

This week Wheeler was at home against Claxton on Monday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Portal at 6:00 p.m. and then, weather permitting, at home on Thursday against the Red Devils of Hawkinsville at 5:30 p.m.
