TCHS Volleyball Split Games

The Tooms County High School volleyball team took on Savannah Arts and Tattnall County on Tuesday of last week, and then on Thursday faced off with Long County and Calvary Day.

Vs. Savannah

In the JV match versus Savannah Arts, the Bulldogs lost 25-23 and 25-13. Estrella Barbosa played well, contributing 11 service points, 4 aces, 2 assists, and 2 digs between the two sets. Emma Wright also had a strong night with 9 service points and 2 aces. Arianna Hill and Alivia Patrick both had 3 kills. This puts the JV at a 4-2 record on the year.

The Varsity Lady Dogs struggled to get anything going against Savannah Arts, losing 25-8 and 25-6 in straight sets.

Vs. Tattnall

In the second match versus Tattnall County, The Varsity Net Dogs did bounce back to win in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-23. There was plenty of drama in this match. In the first set, down 21-17, Vivianna Rodriguez stepped to the serve line and served 8 straight points to help the Bulldogs pick up the victory 25-21. In the second set, down 23-21, Anabel Cruz closed the match by serving the last 4 straight points for a 25-23 win.

Rodriguez ended the night with 10 service points, 2 aces, 1 assist, and 3 digs. Anabel Cruz had 10 service points and 6 aces. Other contributors were Zariaha Newkirk with 7 kills and Anna Patrick with 4 kills.

Vs. Calvary

On Thursday, the Varsity Lady Net Dogs traveled to Long County High School for match play against Calvary Day School and Long County.

In the first match against Calvary Day, the Lady Net Dogs lost in two straight sets 25-14 and 2515. In this match, Anabel Cruz led the team with 4 service points, 2 aces, and 2 assists. Zariaha Newkirk led the team with 1 block and 4 digs, while Anna Patrick led the way with 2 kills.

Vs. Long

In the second match versus Long County, the Lady Net Dogs bounced back in two straight sets 25-12 and 25-15 to pick up the win. In the match with Long County, Zariaha Newkirk had 10 service points, 5 aces, and 6 kills. Anabel Cruz helped with 8 service points, 3 aces, and 2 assists. Vivianna Rodriguez had 6 service points and all 6 were aces. Makenzie Kilgore played well with 5 service points and 1 ace. Martasia Burton led the team with 4 assists. The Varsity is now 13-4 overall and 6-3 in region play. On Tuesday of this week the Bulldogs were at Savannah Arts to face them and Brantley County.
