The Vidalia High School Indian cross country teams traveled to Carrollton Saturday to complete in the Orthopedic Invitational. In this massive field of runners, the Indians stepped up big, bringing home some personal bests on a challenging course.

With conditions much cooler and wet, stand out runner, Georgia Meredith, had a very big race, placing 4th in a field of 178 ladies. Meredith exceeded her previous best time on this course, narrowly missing the school record for this course. Aleah Ajohda had a very strong race and continues to improve each week. Seth MacGregor also bested his previous time on the course and placed 10th out of 217 runners. Andrew Hodges had an excellent race as well, placing 16th. MacGregor and Hodges combined with Chamlee Evans, Jude Owen, Abrien Anthony, Cash Driggers and Larsen Carter placed 5th out of 33 teams, but were the 1st placers for the AA classification.

VHS Coach Mandy Godbee said, “I am overjoyed with the times these athletes turned in this week. We have never had times this fast on this course in September. They have the talent and ability to do great things in the postseason, combined with their dedication and work ethic, I have no doubt that they will exceed their goals.”
