The Toombs County High School cross country teams got their season kicked off Saturday at the Peach State Preview, hosted by Jeff Davis. A young, inexperienced boys team ran well against good competition, with a few runners getting their first experience running in a varsity race. The girls ran well, finishing 5th out of 10 teams.

Coach Jeremy Moore said, “We were excited to finally get out and be able to run a meet with other teams, after running in the heat all summer and training. The kids were excited and nervous, but it’s good to get the first meet under our belts. Now we have a benchmark for the runners, and hopefully we will be able to challenge them at practice and begin seeing those times drop each week, and some of the runners start hitting PRs mid-season.”
