WCSO SEEKS LEADS —The Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office posted online this trail camera photo of a theft in progress and asked for the public’s help in identifying the culprits. The suspects got away with several hundred bales of straw.

The Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of several bales of pine straw from a site off of Georgia Highway 19, South, in the early morning hours of August 1.

A trail camera at the site captured grainy images of two suspects driving a white 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a trailer attached. Chief Deputy Richie C. Floyd reported that the suspects left with 300 rolls of pine straw valued at $9 each, as well as an undetermined number of square bales of straw. The theft occurred between 1 and 3 a.m. in the southern part of the county. The name of the property owner was withheld.

The WCSO posted photos from the trail camera online and asked residents with information to contact the office by calling 912-568-7151.
