Lyons Lions Club Holds Annual Awards Meeting

The Lions Lyons Club, which met June 16 at the Durden Cabin in Partin Park for its annual dinner meeting, presented awards and installed officers for the 2022-2023 term. The 2021-2022 Hardy Thomas Faithful Service Award was presented to Lion Darriel Nobles for his continued willingness over four decades to volunteer for leadership roles and to actively take on service projects of the Lyons Lions Club. Nobles has been a member of the Lyons Lions Club for over 40 years and currently serves as club treasurer and program chairman.

This service recognition award is named in honor of Lion Hardy Thomas who was a Lion for over 50 years and worked tirelessly for the club right up until only a few weeks prior to his passing in 2021. On behalf of the Awards Committee, Lion Larry Griggers presented the 2021-2022 Lion of the Year award to Lion Lucretia Nobles. Nobles is actively involved in all projects of the club, but her service this past term was most significant in that she chaired the 2021 Lyons Citizen of the Year Banquet, which was a huge success.

The club also installed new officers for the 2022-2023 term. They are: Debbie Griggers (Secretary), Darriel Nobles (Treasurer), Jimmy Alexander (Lion Tamer), Jason Hall (Membership Chairman), Lucretia Nobles (President), Mark Findley (LCIF Coordinator/ Immediate Past Pres), James Thompson (Tail Twister), Jill O’Neal (Director), Chris Rustin (Director), Tony Wardlaw (Director), Christian Burton (2nd VP), Barry Waller (1st VP), Nickie Muzafarov (Director), and Joseph Akins (Service Chairman).

LION OF THE YEAR — Lion Larry Griggers presents the 2021-2022 Lion of the Year to Lion Award to Lucretia Nobles. She was cited for service to the club, including chairing the annual Citizen of the Year Banquet.
