Georgia State Patrol Post 18 Reidsville investigated a collision between a train and a car last week in Vidalia, where the Georgia 30 Railway crosses Rudell Road.

According to GSP, the investigation revealed that Sally O’Neal, 26, was stopped on the railroad tracks on Rudell Road, when a westbound train struck her vehicle at 9:32 p.m. on July 25. Upon colliding with the train, O’Neal’s vehicle rotated counterclockwise, and traveled approximately 62 feet before coming to rest in the west ditch, only 15 feet from the west fog line.

she did not hear or see the train. She received minor injuries, and was not transported to the hospital for medical care. GSP reported that the lights, horn, and bell on the train were inspected by officers and were found to be working. O’Neal received two citations for the incident.
