Mr. Neil Shuman

Neil Myron Shuman, 83, of Dawson, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, after a long illness.

A service celebrating Neil’s life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The Army Honor Guard will provide military honors. Neil will be interred at Andersonville National Cemetery in a private ceremony. Neil was born on June 11, 1939, in Vidalia, Georgia, to the late Leland Myron Shuman and Martha Katherine Sumner Shuman. He was a graduate of Vidalia High School (1957) and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1963. He had a career in sales before later starting his own carpet cleaning business. Neil loved Jesus, being

in the Eastside Baptist Church (Marietta, GA) choir, writing fiction and poems, taking great naps, and cooking for family and friends. He also enjoyed watching westerns, going to gospel quartet concerts, and had fond memories of many fishing adventures. Neil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ned Shuman. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anne G. Shuman of Leslie, Georgia; daughter Katherine Nicole “Nikki” Rumble (Scott) of Trussville, Alabama; granddaughter Abigail Elisabeth Rumble also of Trussville, Alabama; sister, Sue Zittrouer (Herbert P. “Buzzy”) of Springfield, Georgia; stepdaughter Terri English (Joe) of Leslie, Georgia; stepson Tyler Melvin (Paula) of Leesburg, Georgia, and many stepgrandchildren.
