The Vidalia High School Indian track & field teams competed in the Westover Relays held in Albany last Friday. The boy’s track team took first place. The Lady Indians placed third in the event with 103 points, following Westover with 142 points and Lee County with 109 points. Competing on tired legs after a Tuesday win at West Laurens, the Indians did not let that phase them as they continue to get ready for the Region 2AA Championships, which will take place at Jeff Davis on April 25 and 26. Coach Mandy Godbee says that “these teams are the whole package. They have shown growth every single time they compete. They are hungry for competition, and I like their chances and making a run for top 3 at state. I am so proud of both teams and look forward to watching them compete over the next three weeks. I have high hopes and expectations. Every time we set goals and targets for this team, they exceed them.” Standout performers for the weekend include Hunter Manning in the pole vault, placing first and propelling himself to the top of the state rankings.
