Three Charged In Murder Case

Three suspects have been charged in connection with the murder of Ricky Burkett, 39, of Vidalia on April 5.

Vidalia Chief of Police James Jermon said Milbern M. McRae, 26, of Vidalia, was arrested on April 8 on a felony arrest warrant. He is charged with tampering with evidence and felony probation violation. He was placed on a $10,000 property bond at his first appearance.

der. She was denied bond by Toombs County Magistrate Judge Jack McMillan. Emily Elizebeth Walker, 20, of Ailey, was taken into custody on April 13. She is charged with murder and was also refused a bond by the Chief Magistrate.

Chief Jermon said in addition to these three individuals, more arrests in the case are expected.

Burkett’s body was found in the back of a residence at 111 W. Jenkins Street on Tuesday, April 5. A passerby spotted a body partially concealed beneath the residence and notified law enforcement. The body was sent to the Coastal Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for examination, after which the GBI confirmed the identity of the deceased man and officially determined that the case is a homicide.

Police have not yet released a motive in Burkett's murder.
