Eagles Get Region Win

The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team picked up a win last week over Dublin during their Region series. But Dublin picked up two wins in the three games series. MCHS also lost a makeup game to the Vikings of Treutlen. vs. Dublin Game 1 The Eagles picked up the Region win on Tuesday in Dublin. MCHS scored six runs in the third inning and one more in the fourth as they led 7-0. The Irish plated a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but that was all they could score in the game.

Against the Vikings on Wednesday in Mt. Vernon, the game was tied at 1-1 after the first inning. The Vikings broke the game open in the top of the second inning as they scored five runs to take a 6-1 lead.

MCHS picked up two runs in the bottom of the second inning to close it to 6-3, but another run for Treutlen in the third and one in the fourth gave them an 8-3 lead.

MCHS added a run in the fourth and one in the sixth inning, but three more for the Vikings in the top of the seventh put them on top 11-5. MCHS did add a run in the seventh, but the Vikings took the win, 11- 6. vs. Dublin Double Header On Friday in Mt. Vernon the Eagles lost both games to the Irish. In the first contest of the day the Irish ran away with the win. Dublin won the game by the run rule, 18-5. Dublin also won the second game of the double header by the run rule. This game they won 19-9 over the Eagles.

MCHS is now 3-19 on the year and they are 1-19 in Region play. This week they will wrap up the regular season with a Region series against Dooly County. The first game was on Tuesday after presstime. They will play in Mt. Vernon on Friday for a double header with the first game at 4:00 p.m.
