BPC Students Make Decisions for Christ

As of March 1, normal chapel services resumed at Brewton-Parker College (BPC). During the fall semester, students were split between two separate chapel services to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Restrictions are lifting and campus life is slowly returning to normal. On March 29, Georgia Baptist Convention (GBC) President Kevin Williams led the chapel service where 19 BPC students made salvation decisions for Christ.

The pandemic has had a crippling effect on mental health for people of all ages across the nation, including college campuses, and more people are searching for light and hope. The movement of the Holy Spirit at BPC is something that has been occurring in other places associated with the GBC. President of BPC Dr. Steven Echols stated, “We’re seeing a spiritual hunger in our society today, and, as a result, we’re seeing an awesome move of God.”

GBC President Kevin Williams, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, spoke about his trip to Israel during the pandemic and the impact of seeing historical sites that are mentioned in the Bible. Pastor Williams said he feels blessed to have been able to be a part of what the Lord is doing at BPC. Williams has been traveling to all Baptist college campuses in the state of Georgia to encourage students and faculty.

These student decisions are not the first since the pandemic began. Last fall, BPC reported more than 20 salvation decisions at a campus tent revival. Dr. Echols noted, “The mission of BPC is to see the lives of students transformed. We are grateful that God is blessing the fulfillment of that mission in a mighty way.”
