VHS Senior Bess Wilcox Qualifies for HOSA Nationals

Vidalia High School Senior Bess Wilcox made VHS HOSA [Health Occupations Students of America] history recently by placing 3rd in state at her competitive event Pharmacy Science. In order to qualify for state, Bess started preparing for her event back in November, which included taking a 100 multiple choice question test in January. She placed first in the region with this take and advanced to state. Upon arriving at the state conference, Wilcox took a 50 multiple choice question test in the first round of state. Her score on this test advanced her to the second round of state, which involved performing skills related to pharmacy. Bess earned her third-place award based on her combined performance on the test and the skills portion of the competition. This June, she will attend the International Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN.

Vidalia HOSA Advisor Shellie Cleghorn, who attended the State Conference with Wilcox, says she is proud of Bess’s accomplishments. “Bess has attended and competed at the HOSA state conference all 4 years of her high school career. She has demonstrated leadership, initiative, intelligence, and enthusiasm throughout her years as a HOSA member and officer. As the VHS HOSA advisor, I am proud of every student who actively participates and competes at the HOSA conferences. As we prepare for the future, we look forward to many more awards on the state level.
