Palmer To Truett McConnell

On Monday of last week Vidalia High School Indian runner Luke Palmer signed to compete for Truett McConnell in Cleveland, GA. He will be taking his talents to the next level to run for the Bears. Palmer, who holds a school record in the 4×800m relay, is a fouryear letterman in both cross country and track, as well as a Region Champion in the 1,600m, 3,200m, and 4×800m relay. He is also 2-year captain on both teams and has been a 3 time State Meet qualifier in the 1,600m and the 3,200m runs. Palmer said, “I think that Truett McConnell was the best option for me. I have family in the area, which is nice, and it is a great opportunity for me. I have to thank my mom and dad, Coach Godbee and Coach Lee, and everyone on the team. I am excited to get to work.” His mother and coach Erica said, “It has been a blessing to not only be there as a mother but also as a coach and to watch him grow and excel not only in sports but as a fine young man. We are very proud of him and what he has accomplished, and we look forward to seeing what he can do at Truett McConnell.”

Godbee said that his leadership ability is unparalleled, “Luke is a great leader. He knows what needs to be done and not only does it himself, but he also holds his teammates accountable. He’s like having another coach out there.”
