Smith Signs With Reinhardt

Last Thursday at Vidalia Heritage Academy Josiah Smith signed his letter of intent for a scholarship to play football for the Eagles at Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA. Smith, a standout athlete for VHA, helped lead the Eagles to a State Championship in football this past season. Smith is also the first football signee in Heritage's short history with the sport. He is just the second athlete from the Eagles to sign to play at the next level. Smith said, 'I am very excited and thankful to get the opportunity to go play college football. I am thankful to all of my VHA coaches and parents for all they have poured into me. The Lord has blessed me and I want to glorify Him in everything I do. I really enjoyed this past year and how we were able to win it all. Reinhardt has a very successful program their coaches are top notch and they really push and help develop you.'

His father Ronnie Smith added, 'We are very proud of him and thankful to the Lord for the opportunity for him to come to VHA and to be able to play football. The coaches supplied him what he needed and pushed him and gave him an opportunity to excel. We are thankful that Reinhardt is interested in him as a quarterback and we are looking for great things there.'

VHA Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Seth Sitzman stated, 'This is a dream come true for him and we knew this day was coming. He has worked extremely hard and set an example for the rest of the student athletes. He is a leader and helped us win a State Championship and has been a blessing for this program. We are very proud of him and we are going to shoot for him to be an Eagle at Reinhardt University. We know he will work his way into a starter up there as well'
