Wilcox Signs With Georgetown

On Friday, February 4, Wheeler County High School's TJ Wilcox signed his letter of intent to play football at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. Wilcox will be heading up north to play football for the Tigers. Wilcox stated, “I have to thank my coaches, the teachers, my parents, and everyone that gave me and the team support. I really like the facilities at Georgetown and the way that they treated us when we visited. It really felt like home. I am really looking forward to getting up there and getting to work.”

His mother Kimberly Mann added, “Oh, he has worked so hard to get here. He is an honor graduate, he has put in the work, and we told him that anywhere he chose we are going to of course back him. We are of course looking forward to seeing him play at the next level, and since he has just been playing for a year and a half, we are looking to see him continue to grow.” Head Coach Thomas Smith added, “When we as a staff got here, he had never played before. We convinced him to come out and play. He has made such a transition, and is one of the strongest guys in the weight room for us. He can play several spots, but really fits on the defensive line. He has really learned the game over the past couple of years, but he is just scratching the surface of what he could become. He has such potential, he could really be a great player.”
