Faison Signs With Georgetown

On Friday, February 4, Wheeler County High School's Jay Faison signed his letter of intent to play football at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. Faison will be heading up north to play football for the Tigers. Faison stated,“I want to thank God, my family, my mom, but I have to say this all started with my dad. He put the ball in my hands when I was little and he pushed me to be better. I really like Georgetown, they have a good culture on campus and on the team. They made me feel welcome and the coaches just made it feel like the right pick.”

His father Leondress said, “It is a proud day for us. This all started when he was just three-years old, just pushing him, working with him, tutoring him, I am just proud of him. It took a whole village to get him to this point, but he has made it. We are surely going to get to see him play some college ball and we look so forward to it.”

Head Coach Thomas Smith added, “His versatility is his biggest selling point. He played running back, but can also play in the slot, return punt and kicks, he can play all over. He is also the most unselfish kid I have ever had. Whatever you asked him to do he did, he is the true team player. He is also a great leader, he sacrificed, he has great character, just a great kid.”
