Bulldogs Win Over MCHS

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs basketball teams took on Dooly County in Vienna on Tuesday and then hosted the Eagles of Montgomery County on Saturday.

Girls vs. Dooly

In the girls game against the Lady Bobcats, Dooly took an early lead, 21-12 by the end of the first period. The Lady Bulldogs struggled in the second period as they were outscored 18-0 to send the game to halftime with Dooly on top 39-12.

In the third Wheeler got back on track as they closed in on Dooly with the score at the end of the third being 59-37. Dooly pulled back away in the fourth on the way to an 80-51 win over Wheeler.

Wheeler was led by their standout freshman Mahogany King with 42 points.

Boys vs. Dooly

Wheeler also fell in the boys game against the Bobcats. Dooly was in control throughout on the way to an 80-65 win.

Girls vs. MCHS

On Saturday in Alamo the Lady Eagles rolled to a win over the Lady Bulldogs. MCHS was on top 21-5 by the end of the first and pushed that lead to 41-13 by halftime. In the third MCHS outscored Wheeler 25-7 to hold a 66-20 lead heading to the fourth quarter. The Eagles took the win, 77-25.

Wheeler was led by King with 15 points.

Boys vs. MCHS

In the boys game Wheeler jumped out to an early 8-2 lead on the Eagles. A three for MCHS closed that to 8-5, but Wheeler led 12-8 at the end of the first. In the second quarter the Bulldogs were on top 30-21 with just over one minute left.

Early in the third the score was 36-27 with Wheeler out in front. MCHS closed it to 36-30, but then the Bulldogs began to pull away. In the fourth Wheeler was in front 63-42 and they took the win over MCHS 66-51. This week the boys were at Toombs County on Tuesday after presstime.
